Esta es una historia de amigos que se atreven a cruzar esa delgada línea que separa la amistad del amor y que cambia la vida para siempre. Daniel (Unax Ugalde) is a young and ambitious Spanish chef who just realized his dream: working at a famous restaurant managed by star chef Thomas Wackerle (Herbert Knaup). Due to his extraordinary talent, Daniel soon progresses in Wackerle's demanding kitchen. He is attracted to Hanna (Nora Tschirner), the attractive sommellier of the restaurant.

Las protagonistas son una mujer madura (Bening), la hija (Naomi Watts) que dio en adopción 35 años antes y Lucy, una mujer negra (Kerry Washington) que quiere adoptar un niño. Sus relaciones amorosas con los hombres, con sus hijos, con sus madres constituyen la trama de esta historia. A instancias de su madre, Karen abandonó a la niña que tuvo con 14 años. 36 años después, mientras sigue lamentando su pérdida, encuentra a un hombre que está dispuesto a darle una familia y a aportar un poco de alegría a su vida. Elizabeth, su hija, es ya una mujer adulta que tiene que resolver sus propios problemas. Lucy, por su parte, aprende a cuidar a la hija que siempre ha querido tener.

Almost forty years ago, a young girl of fourteen has sex, gets pregnant, and gives her baby up for adoption. Fast-forwarding to the present day, we meet three very different women, each of whom struggles to maintain control of their lives. There's Elizabeth, a smart and successful lawyer who uses her body to her advantage. Any time she feels that she doesn't have the upper hand, and cannot control the situation, she uses her sex appeal - whether that be starting a romance with her boss when she suspects he is trying to start one himself, or finding some way to control her overly friendly neighbor and husband. Karen, meanwhile, is a bitter health care professional who obviously has a lot of heart but never shows it. She gave up a daughter at the age of fourteen (wonderfully shown rather than told, she is the young girl and mother of Elizabeth), and has never gotten over it - her bitterness inspiring her to lash out at everyone around her...

SINOPSIS:

Desde que su mujer sufrió quemaduras en todo el cuerpo a raíz de un accidente de coche, el doctor Robert Ledgard, eminente cirujano plástico, ha dedicado años de estudio y experimentación a la elaboración de una nueva piel con la que hubiera podido salvarla; se trata de una piel sensible a las caricias, pero que funciona como una auténtica coraza contra toda clase de agresiones, tanto externas como internas. Para poner en práctica este hallazgo revolucionario es preciso carecer de escrúpulos, y Ledgard no los tiene. Pero, además, necesita una cobaya humana y un cómplice. Marilia, la mujer que lo cuidó desde niño, es de una fidelidad perruna: nunca le fallará. El problema será encontrar la cobaya humana.

STORYLINE:

In honor of his late wife who died in a flaming car accident, scientist, Dr. Robert Ledgard, is trying to synthesize the perfect skin which can withstand burns, cuts or any other kind of damage. As he gets closer to perfecting this skin on his flawless patient, the scientific community starts growing skeptical and his past is revealed that shows how his patient is closely linked to tragic events he would like to forget.
